EMS Coordinator
Hotazel, Northern Cape

An exciting full time position exists for an Ambulance Emergency Assistant in the role as EMS Coordinator at a mining site in Hotazel, Northern Cape.

The purpose of the role is to be one of several Coordinators to manage the on-site Emergency Medical service at a mining site. This is based on the principles of EMS operations management and adhering to legislative specifications as well as the scope of service from the client. The successful candidate will work 8 hour shifts / 40 hours per week.

Critical Outputs:

- Manage the provision of quality Emergency Medical Services at the designated client site.
- Provide emergency care, including medical response (where required and specified by the Client).
- Ensure legal compliance to all patient related documentation, treatment and care.
- Meeting the prescribed professional and quality standards of the HPCSA, Life EHS / Life EMS and the client.
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene of the workplace, adhering to infection control policies and procedures as well as safety policies and procedures.
- Implementation and adherence to infection control policies and procedures as well as safety policies and procedures.
- Contributing to the enhancement of working relationships, co-operation and communication within the EMS department, Occupational Health clinic and the client.
- Assist with patient monitoring and treatment in the on-site Occupational Health clinic.
- General administrative functions i.e. compiling procedures, maintaining patient files, record keeping, stock and asset control.
- Assistance with in-service training of staff and, where required, client employees.
- Ensuring the total satisfaction of our clients through continuous improvement and added value.
- Form part of the Client's Emergency Response Team and assist with any specific training requirements they might have.
- Ensuring compliance with legal, HPCSA, OHSA and DMR requirements.
- Participation in the client's internal audits and ensuring compliance to Key Performance Indicators.
- Be physically fit and capable of passing a required functional work capacity fitness examination.
- Be in good health. The candidate is required to undergo a fitness to work medical examination (including a drug screening test).

Requirements
1. Current registration with the HPCSA Professional Board of Emergency Care Providers as an Ambulance Emergency Assistant with at least 3 years clinical work experience, in an operation environment.

Certificate of Competence for the following Medical Rescue courses:
- Motor Vehicle Rescue
- High Angle Rescue I & II
- Confined Space Rescue

- Current certificates - (advantageous and will be a requirement to successfully complete these courses, if appointed):

- American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider
- International Trauma Life Support

Candidates with the above courses will be given preference

- Certificate of Competence (advantageous and will be a requirement to successfully complete these courses, if appointed):
- Defensive Driving
- Mining experience would be advantageous
- Good general understanding of legislation pertaining to the specific business environment
- A motivated team player, who is willing to offer extended commitment to ensure operational standards and efficiencies are met and maintained
- Excellent interpersonal and client liaison skills and able to work to tight timelines and client deliverables.
- Ability to cope under pressure within a complex, challenging environment
- Computer literacy in all recognized Microsoft Office packages ESSENTIAL
- Code C / EC with PrDP (non negotiable)
- Own reliable transport (non negotiable). Employees would be required to be on standby / call out and it is therefore required that the successful candidate resides within close proximity to the site.
